DOVER, N.C. (WBTV) – A lucky person won $2 million off a Powerball lottery ticket that was bought in North Carolina recently.
State lottery officials said the ticket was bought at JD Gas and Grocery on Highway 55 in the small town of Dover.
The lucky person matched all five white balls in the Monday, March 16 Powerball drawing. The winning numbers were 7, 10, 20, 47 and 52. The red Powerball was 20.
Matching all five white balls normally nets a $1 million prize, although the lucky player in Monday’s drawing had a 2X multiplier, which doubled their winnings to $2 million.
Nobody hit the March 16 Powerball jackpot, which stood at an estimated $89 million. The jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday, March 18 ballooned to $101 million.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, at 10:59 p.m. EST. The jackpot keeps growing until it is won.
The town of Dover is in Craven County, out toward the North Carolina coast. Dover is about 30 minutes inland from New Bern.
