Kyle Sandilands Live Friday show pulled from air after tech issues

Kyle Sandilands′ first week back on the airwaves has ended prematurely after tech issues caused producers to pull the pin on Friday’s entire show.

Executive producer Jaimee “Mayo” Blazquez and newsreader Brooklyn Ross shared a video to fans in the broadcaster’s app, apologising after tech issues took down Kyle Sandilands Live.

“We were scared this day might come,” Ross began, saying his colleague was “very stressed right now”.

“We’re so sorry that the tech has failed us today because the show that we had planned would have been incredible,” Blazquez added.

She said they didn’t want to push ahead with a show, which listeners have paid a $99 yearly subscription for, that no one could hear.

“We’ve tried a few times, and I think we’re just going to upset you more if we keep coming back and then disappearing again. So we’ve decided today to not take the show to air,” Blazquez said.

The team would use the weekend to “get everything sorted” before returning to regularly scheduled shows next week.

“Monday we’ll be back with new equipment, because we’ve ordered everything, and hopefully we don’t have these issues again,” Blazquez said.

Sandilands was not visible in the video.

Ahead of the decision, producers had kept fans up to date with the issues in-app.

“Hi KSL team, apologies for the technical issues today. We are working to fix it ASAP!” Mayo wrote.

It was an early end to a chaotic first week for Sandilands’ buzzy new show, with subscribers forking out a $99 yearly subscription in advance to listen. 

The debut show on August 10 proved to be full of teething issues, tech problems and even a hard-reset where the live show was terminated just after 7am in an attempt to fix things. 

Sandilands and his team were open about the problems, even titling Tuesday’s second episode as  ‘Hopefully today’s better…’
