Some of the world’s best managers come together to pick the best 15 players to start the season
Some of the world’s top Fantasy Premier League managers combine to pick the ultimate 15-man squad ahead of the Gameweek 1 deadline on Friday 21 August at 18:30 BST.
The experts have opted for a pair of rotating £4.5m goalkeepers in Antonin Kinsky and Bart Verbruggen. The Spurs and Brighton goalkeepers can be rotated so that managers always have a home fixture.
None of the more expensive defenders in the game make the experts’ squad, with budget-friendly options preferred.
Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori (£5.5m) is the most expensive defender in this squad after his goal in the FA Community Shield.
Elsewhere at the back, Spurs’ Jan Paul van Hecke and Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire (both £5.0m) are selected. The latter ended his pre-season preparations with a goal in a 4-2 defeat to AC Milan.
The experts have then opted for a £4.5m and £4.0m defender pairing of Joe Rodon (£4.5m) and Bobby Thomas (£4.0m) to allow for as much flexibility with transfers as possible during the early weeks of the season.
All three of the most-owned midfielders are included, with the experts also opting for a pair of cheaper options.
Pascal Gross (£5.5m) looks set to be on penalties for Brighton, following Danny Welbeck’s (£6.0m) move to Chelsea, while Mamadou Sangare (£5.5m) scored his first goal for Brentford against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend and looks likely to be good for defensive contributions this season based on his numbers for Lens in Ligue 1 last season.
Erling Haaland (£15.5m), Joao Pedro (£7.5m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) are the three most-popular forwards in the game, and the experts agree they are the best picks in the position.
