We take our first steps into this season’s Carabao Cup at the second round stage on Wednesday night as we host Charlton Athletic at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Entering at this point of the competition for the first time since 2023/24 – teams who have qualified for Europe come in at the third round stage – we’re set to face the Addicks in our new home for the first time.

Here’s all you need to know as we get set to face a side that’s won two out of two so far in the Championship this term…

What time does the match start?

Wednesday’s tie kicks off at 7.45pm BST.

How can I watch the game?

Our match will be available to watch live in the UK on Sky Sports+ while live text commentary will, as usual, be available via our Match Centre here on our official app and website.

We’ll have video highlights across club channels in the hours after the game as well, ensuring you won’t miss any of the action if you’re not coming to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in person.

“I love dreaming like the fans” – De Zerbi’s thoughts ahead of Carabao Cup clash

What is the team news?

It was confirmed on Tuesday that new signing Sávio is eligible to be selected against Charlton.

Roberto De Zerbi has suggested that defenders Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven will be included in our matchday squad for the first time this season and confirmed that striker Dominic Solanke is available after he came off the bench in Saturday’s Premier League opener at Brentford.

James Maddison has picked up a small shoulder problem and is unlikely to feature against the Addicks, with the game coming too soon for Mohammed Kudus, who continues to work his way back from an injury. Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are long-term absentees.

Matty Godden and Will Mannion will be assessed for the visitors, while Charlie Kelman and Josh Edwards have returned to training and could feature.

Who is the referee?

Adam Herczeg will take charge of Wednesday’s match, assisted by Timothy Wood and Alistair Nelson.

Abigail Byrne will be the fourth official.

Which kit will the team be wearing?

We’ll be wearing our 2026/27 home kit, featuring Lilywhite shirts, navy blue shorts and white socks.

Charlton will change to an all-purple strip for the match in N17.

Our goalkeeper will be in the second choice green keeper’s strip, with the visitors’ stopper in yellow.

How can I get the matchday programme?

Another edition of our new-look official matchday programme for the 2026/27 season will be on sale at the game, including a main feature interview with summer signing Martin Dubravka.

Be sure to pick up your copy from various points around the stadium on Wednesday night, or order online here for delivery direct to your door.

What will the weather be like?

There could be rain showers at times during the game on Wednesday evening. Temperatures are expected to be around 23 degrees.
