Eleven suspects are facing criminal charges following a Montreal police investigation into the moments leading to the killing of 15-year-old Nooran Rezayi.

Police announced Tuesday that the suspects were between 13 and 17 years old at time of the shooting.

Five of them have been arrested and six of them have been charged by summons.

The suspects will appear before the youth court of Quebec in late August and early September.

Charges include: conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to commit assault, wearing a disguise for criminal purposes, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlawful assembly, and failure to comply with various court orders.

On Sept. 21, 2025, Rezayi, who was unarmed, was shot dead by Longueuil police barely 10 seconds after officers parked their cruiser while responding to a 911 call.

Quebec’s police watchdog, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendante (BEI), was informed of the shooting an hour and 36 minutes after it happened.

It launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. In parallel, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) opened its own investigation.

In March, the BEI announced that it had finished its report and delivered it to the DPCP, Quebec’s public prosecution service. It will decide whether to lay charges against the officer who killed Rezayi.
