After 40 years of travelling, Travel Guides stars Kevin and Janetta reveal the experience that changed everything

EXCLUSIVE: Across 75 episodes and an incredible eight seasons, Kevin and Janetta have seen the world during their time on hit series Travel Guides.

But there is one experience they’ll truly never forget.

Speaking with 9Entertainment, the couple looked back on their past nine years with Travel Guides (and 40 years of travelling!), revealing the “bucket list” moment that changed everything.

“After nine years, we love the fact [that Travel Guides] gives us travel experiences we normally wouldn’t seek out,” began Kevin.

“When we go on holidays, we don’t look for things to jump off or scale down or eat revolting things,” said Janetta. “But with Travel Guides, we’re up for everything.”

And by anything, that includes facing your worst fears.

“I have a recognised fear, the fear of edges and ledges,” Kevin explained.

A fear fans would have seen when the Guides tackled Caminito del Rey a.k.a The Walkway of Death during their trip to Spain.

“With my fear of edges and ledges, I never thought I’d jump out of a plane but we had the opportunity when we were in Noosa,” Kevin revealed.

“I always said to myself, if they [Travel Guides] ever provide the opportunity to sky dive I would do it no matter what.

“And I did. That was a real genuine bucket list moment.”

Bringing their love for the finer things in life to the series, Kevin and Janetta have been stars of Travel Guides since Season 1.

And before that the couple had been travelling for over 40 years.

Pre-Travel Guides, Kevin was a part-time travel writer and food critic. While Janetta has roots in travel as a former airline employee.

Through the series, they’ve visited 36 countries alone! 

“The challenges they give us are way out of our comfort zone but it keeps us young,” said Kevin reflecting.

With Janetta adding: “We’ve learnt a new appreciation of being pushed out of your comfort zone at any age.”

As for Janetta, there’s nothing left on her bucket list to tick off. 

”I’m just trying to fit as much into life while we’re still around,” she laughed.

Kevin jumped in: “Our motto is ‘I want to see the world before I leave it’. We’re very lucky.”
