Bryson DeChambeau responded to a fan in the stands when he was asked about his ‘Breaking 50’ YouTube challenge that he famously plays with major sports personalities
Bryson DeChambeau responded to a question from a fan in the stands, revealing his next possible work on his YouTube channel.
DeChambeau is taking on the challenge of the U.S. Open competition at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. The LIV Golf star is a two-time U.S. Open champion but missed both cuts at the majors so far this season. Ahead of this week’s tournament, he had a classy driving range interaction with a rising star making his debut.
DeChambeau also takes his skills to the social media world, as the world-famous golfer has over 2.7 million subscribers on YouTube and likes to play competitions with personalities around the world, including a ‘Break 50’ challenge. He’s completed the challenge with many athletes, including Stephen Curry and U.S. Open rookie Miles Russell, who is the number one junior golfer in the world.
From the stands during Wednesday’s practice round, DeChambeau found himself being yelled at, but the fan asked a legitimate question. “Bryson, when’s the Break 50 with LeBron [James] coming out?”
“Some point,” responded the tour star.
James has widely expressed his love for the game on social media, congratulating Nelly Korda on her successes and even gifting her a pair of shoes to wear during a round.
As DeChambeau’s YouTube grows popular, his future is in question with LIV Golf as the Saudi-backed circuit faces a possible shutdown thanks to a funding pull from the PIF. He has no clear-cut route back to the PGA Tour, and he also noted that he’d be down to growing his YouTube platform.
“I think, from my perspective, I’d love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more,” DeChambeau said, while practicing in preparation for the LIV Golf tournament at Trump National Golf Club.
“I would love to. I’d love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I’d love to play tournaments that want me.”
DeChambeau has been at the forefront of LIV Golf’s future, as the 32-year-old is attempting to help CEO Scott O’Neil find new investors before the season comes to a close.
“Well, look, I think this has a lot of opportunity, right, and if somebody sees the plan that Scott and them are putting forward, yeah, I’ve been helping a little bit behind the scenes, and I think that there’s a lot of benefit to capital coming into this league,” said DeChambeau.
“I think one of the things people don’t realize is the team franchise valuations. We get the top co right and we get what we’re doing on the top side right, I think the momentum could be endless for us.”
He’s searching for his third U.S. Open title and has two LIV Golf wins so far this season.
