CHICAGO – David Hamilton turned a routine single into absolute chaos during the Brewers’ 5-0 win over the Cubs on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.
The Brewers’ speedster lined a base hit to center field in the second inning, but Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong misplayed the ball as it rolled all the way to the wall. Hamilton never stopped running, circling the bases for a Little League home run as three runs scored on the play to give Milwaukee an early 3-0 lead.
It marked the second straight day Crow-Armstrong was charged with a costly misplay in center. Hamilton, meanwhile, circled the bases in 15.07 seconds to come all the way around and score.
The moment perfectly summed up a brutal start for the Cubs and an aggressive one for the Brewers, who entered the afternoon looking to complete a sweep at Wrigley.
