Clint Eastwood has a wonderfully unfussy way of directing films, and Juror #2 is no exception. It’s a courtroom thriller, one in which we learn a lot about why each character feels the way they do about the murder case at its centre, from the lawyers (Chris Messina and Toni Collette) to the defendant and the jurors, of whom number two – a tense expectant father played by Brit Nicholas Hoult – discovers he has a very personal connection to the deceased on the very first day.
