BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After opening the season with three consecutive Patriot League wins, No. 7 Lehigh steps out of league play to host Dartmouth Saturday at Goodman Stadium on Family Weekend, presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, with game time set for noon.
The matchup with the Big Green begins a stretch of three Ivy League opponents in Lehigh’s next four games. The Mountain Hawks rushed for 366 yards and raced to a 30-0 lead 21 minutes into the contest in their 44-20 victory over then-No. 16 William & Mary. Senior Luke Yoder rushed for 169 yards and scored three more touchdowns, while the Lehigh defense held the Tribe to seven points and just 99 yards in a dominant first half performance. Dartmouth opens its 2026 season after going 7-3 a season ago. The Big Green are visiting Goodman Stadium for the first time in 30 years.
With Saturday’s game occurring during Lehigh’s Family and Founders Weekend, fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid traffic delays. Fans are also encouraged to be in their seats early as the Frog-X Parachute Team will be doing a pregame jump into Goodman Stadium.
The Mountain Hawks could not ask for a better start to their home opener. Lehigh raced to a 30-0 lead six minutes into the second quarter on the way to its 44-20 win over No. 16 William & Mary. Senior Luke Yoder scored two first quarter touchdowns with the Mountain Hawks also scoring a safety to lead 16-0 after one. Hayden Johnson ran for a 50-yard touchdown while Derek Morgan threw a 22-yard touchdown pass and ran for another as Lehigh led 37-0 at the break. It marked the second time in three years Lehigh scored at least 37 points in the first half of their home opener. The Mountain Hawks led Wagner 42-0 at the half on their way to a 49-13 triumph in the 2024 home opener.
Senior running back Luke Yoder enjoyed one of the finest rushing seasons in program history in 2025. Yoder carried 198 times for 1,409 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. Yoder has picked up where he left off last year with 419 yards and nine rushing touchdowns in Lehigh’s first three games. The Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year totaled four touchdowns in the win at Georgetown and added three more in the home-opening win over William & Mary, Yoder ranks third on Lehigh’s career rushing list with 3,486 yards, 838 behind Dom Bragalone ’19 for the top spot. He will try to join Bragalone as the only Lehigh players with three 1,000-yard rushing seasons. Through three games, Yoder leads the FCS in rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns and scoring and ranks fourth in rushing yards. He was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Lehigh has now eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in 36 straight games dating back to the 2023 season. The Mountain Hawks had four games of 300 or more rushing yards in 2025, with a high of 343 against Holy Cross, Lehigh’s most since gaining 349 on the ground at Fordham in 2016. The Mountain Hawks have started fast in 2026 with 281 rushing yards at Holy Cross, 302 at Georgetown and 366 against William & Mary. The Mountain Hawks have led the Patriot League in rushing the last two seasons and ranked fourth nationally last year, averaging 230.9 yards per game. Senior Luke Yoder has 419 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns through three games, while five other runners have gained at least 80 yards through three games. Lehigh also has 13 rushing touchdowns as a team this season.
Lehigh finished the 2025 season with a plus-8 turnover margin, marking just the second time in 12 seasons that the Mountain Hawks finished the season on the positive side of the turnover battle. The Mountain Hawks’ 2026 campaign started strong in the turnover department with a plus-3 in its win at Holy Cross. Cole Hughes forced a second quarter fumble that was recovered by Aidan Williams. Nick Peltekian and Luke Denny recorded fourth-quarter interceptions. Lehigh did not turn the ball over against the Crusaders. The Mountain Hawks are plus-2 through three games. Sophomore TJ Hill made an interception in the win over William & Mary before an exchange of lost fumbles in the final minutes.
