Palmeiras push for Brasileirão lead and remain in cups, near full strength for Dérbi

Corinthians visit Palmeiras at Nubank Parque on Sunday at 17:30 in the 30th round, needing points to pull away from the relegation fight while the hosts chase the title.

According to ge.globo, Palmeiras could start Carlos Miguel, Giay, Gustavo Gómez, Murilo, Piquerez, Marlon Freitas, Lucas Evangelista or Barboza, Andreas Pereira, Arias, Flaco López and Vitor Roque.

Corinthians are 16th on 32 points, one ahead of Internacional, the first side in the relegation zone. Palmeiras sit second on 60 points, one behind leaders Flamengo.

Only a point separates Palmeiras from top spot, so they could go first this round depending on the Dérbi and Flamengo’s meeting with Fluminense at the Maracanã.

Palmeiras are also in the Libertadores semi-finals against Fluminense, scheduled for 14 and 21 October, and face Vasco da Gama in the Copa do Brasil semi-finals on 1 and 8 November.

Head coach Abel Ferreira returns to the touchline after serving an STJD suspension. The only confirmed absentee is left-back Jefté, provisionally suspended for doping.
