The 62-year-old actress, who played Eileen Grimshaw on the long-running soap from 2000 until 2025, injured her right index finger with a Japanese knife while chopping salad on the BBC show.
The knife had been bought by her son for the programme.

Sue said: “Oh, plaster already. I’ve cut myself. It didn’t take long.
“I nearly cut my finger off, and it’s only day one.
“I’m panicking a bit.”
Medics quickly treated the wound, allowing her to return to cooking, reports The Sun.
Celebrity MasterChef judge Giorgio Locatelli, 63, told her: “That’s a Japanese knife.
“It’s a very sharp one.”
Fellow judge and food critic Grace Dent, 52, admitted she was starstruck by the actress.
Grace said: “I’m a massive Corrie fan. This is like meeting The Queen!”
Cleaver is competing in the final week of heats on September 1, alongside The Saturdays singer Una Healy, 44, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2024 campmate Melvin Odoom, 46, former Strictly Come Dancing semi-finalist Lauren Steadman, 33, and YouTube comedian Max Fosh, 31.
This series marks a new era for Celebrity MasterChef as former hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode haven’t been on the show since July 2025.
In June 2025, he described himself as the “bad cop” on the show.
Mr Locatelli said: “I think I was a bad cop. I’m strict.
“Strict about cleanliness and organisation.
“Those little skills that you teach them slowly.
“We’re working with celebrities, which is different from working with people who wanted to be a chef, but still, you can really see them growing in what they do, and so this is the thing that interests me more on the whole experience.”
One celebrity in particular stood out with their dishes.
Giorgio said: “There was somebody who really surprised me a few times in the positive.
“It was good fun to do, it was really good fun to be with them.
“Everyone has already proven something in their lives, and they have already achieved something.
“That’s why they’re there, because they are celebrities in different fields.
“The people who worked in entertainment found it so difficult to cook to the time.
“The sportspeople always hit the time. Their life is run by time.
“While the other people are all about creativity.”
