Tabcorp eyes Foxtel buyout as it ponders wagering and sports empire

Tabcorp chief executive Gillon McLachlan held preliminary discussions with Dazn about the possible acquisition of Foxtel only 18 months after the streaming giant bought the broadcaster from News Corporation.

The ASX-listed gaming giant has been advised by Barrenjoey Capital Partners and its co-executive chairman Matthew Grounds, and the discussions came after the company reported a rebound in profit and revenue in the last financial year, and with its balance sheet in good health.
