The final round of the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has started with Switzerland claiming Group B in an epic 2-1 victory over Canada.
At the same time, Bosnia and Herzegovina did its chances of moving through to the knockout stages no harm with a 3-1 win over Qatar.
Later on, Haiti scored its first World Cup goal in 52 years in an early shock for Morocco, before the African team hit back to win 4-2, while Scotland suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brazil to leave its World Cup hopes relying on other results.
Group A will be finalised as Mexico City plays host to Czechia and Mexico at the same time as South Africa-South Korea plays out in Monterrey from 11am (AEST).
Meanwhile, a key Socceroo has been ruled out of Australia’s clash with Paraguay on Friday.

South Africa is defending well.

What now for South Korea?
If South Korea can’t find an equaliser, they will finish third and have a nervous wait to see if they qualify for the next round.
South Africa will go through in second place.
Crazy stuff in Monterrey.

Lack of action in both games
This often happens in the final group games.
All the teams know what they need to do to qualify.
Mexico are already through and South Korea only needs a draw.
The result? Two pretty dull games.
Czechia and South Africa both need to win, so hopefully we’ll see some more action in the second half.

Decent effort, but goes wide.

30′ How did South Africa not score?
A powerful shot from outside the box is saved by Kim Seung-Gyu, but the rebound falls straight to Evidence Makgopa.
He is right in front of goal but shoots straight at the keeper.
What a miss!
VAR would have checked if it had gone in. Could have been offside.
Big miss though

Fans having fun
It hasn’t been the best game so far, but South Korea and South Africa fans are enjoying it.
