Nickechi Adaka had been spotted by police in a car in Great Yarmouth which was then searched by officers.

Norwich Crown Court heard police found wraps of class A drugs as well as a mobile phone, cash and disposable gloves in the car.

Jamal Reid, 26, who had earlier been in the car, was stopped by police and had on him a phone which was ringing.

Lydia Stephens, prosecuting, said both men were arrested following the stop on March 24 this year and taken into custody.

The prosecutor said when Adaka was searched a small cashew nuts bag fell out of his underwear in which were stored wraps of cocaine.

She said Adaka, of Rainham, Kent, has previous convictions for drugs supply, and had been involved in “street dealing”.

He appeared at court on September 18 having previously admitted possession with intent to supply heroin.

Reid, from London, also appeared in court having admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin.

Lynne Shirley, mitigating for Adaka, said the defendant deserved credit for his plea and had shown “genuine remorse”.

She said he was “pretty desperate,” had been “living in a car” at the time and was selling drugs to get a gym pass in order to get a shower and some food.

The barrister said he was in a “bad place at the time” but deeply regrets committing the offence.

Emma Lewis, mitigating for Reid, said the defendant takes “full responsibility for his actions” and had pleaded guilty at the earliest available opportunity.

Jailing Adaka for five years and six months, Recorder Ruth Brander said having repeatedly involved himself in the supply of class A drugs, he “must’ve had some awareness of the operation”.

Reid was given a 22-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work.
