Beyond Paradise sadly won’t be returning until 2027 but Barbara Flynn is keeping herself busy away from the cameras.
Beyond Paradise icon Barbara Flynn has opened up about her own side hustle.
Barbara Flynn, who is also known for starring in Open All Hours, features in today’s episode of Love Your Weekend With Alan Titchmarsh, talking about her life and career with the ITV host.
In more recent years, the 77-year-old is best known for starring as Anne Lloyd, Martha Lloyd’s (Sally Bretton) mum in the hit BBC cosy crime drama Beyond Paradise.
However, Flynn has previously revealed that acting isn’t her only role in Beyond Paradise as she has another important job behind the scenes.
The actress also creates her own jewellery which she provides for the costume department and wears as part of her character in the BBC series.
Opening up on Morning Live, Flynn explained: “Well yes, I started making jewellery about 2000 because I wanted to wear something to a party and I couldn’t find anything.
“My father dabbled a bit in some silverware so I did make something and people liked it.
“Then I found gemstones and that opened up a whole different world for me.”
She continued: “So when we were getting ready to do the first series, the lovely designer said ‘What do you think about jewellery Barbara?’
“I said ‘Well, I make jewellery so I could offer you anything that you’d like me to wear with the outfits that you’ve chosen.’ And so it started from there.
“I make or I have made or own everything that I wear in the show.”
Flynn’s talents doesn’t limit her talent to Beyond Paradise though as she also runs her own jewellery business called Barbara Flynn Jewellery.
According to her Instagram page, the star works with “high quality gemstones, minerals and precious metals to create unique pieces of jewellery for you.”
She has previously showcased her work at artisan boutiques in Cornwall but also sells her pieces via social media.
Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
