Everton are interested in signing Villarreal striker Thierno Barry this summer transfer window.

David Moyes has identified Thierno Barry as the man to lead the line next season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin expected to leave Everton.

Barry enjoyed a breakout season in La Liga last term, netting more goals than Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

It’s understood Everton are ready to meet his £33m release clause, and now there’s been a fresh development on how he feels about a move to Merseyside.

How Thierno Barry feels about joining Everton

Barry left Basel for Villarreal last summer and netted 11 times in his debut season, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young strikers in Spain.

The 22-year-old, who plies his trade for France’s youth team, is also on the radar of Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.

But, it’s now come to light that Villarreal believe Barry is comfortable staying at the Spanish outfit this summer, according to AS.

The Yellow Submarines qualified for the Champions League, and there is a belief he wouldn’t want to trade that for a move to Goodison Park.

However, no final decision has been made yet, and there have been conflicting reports suggesting he wants to test himself in the Premier League.

Everton could turn to Nick Woltemade if Barry stays put

If Barry does decide to commit his future to Villarreal, Everton could look to sign Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.

Woltemade, who stands at a towering 6ft 6, was initially seen as the second-choice striker after Liam Delap talks collapsed.

Woltemade had a few less-than-convincing appearances for Germany, and the focus seemed to turn towards Barry from then on.

But, there’s no doubting the 23-year-old remains a top target having struck 17 goals last term.
