The Indiana Fever released their injury report for their Wednesday night contest against the Phoenix Mercury.
As expected, it doesn’t include the news Fever fans or Iowa fans were hoping for. Indiana star point guard Caitlin Clark has been ruled out against the Phoenix Mercury with a right groin injury per the Indy Star’s Chloe Peterson.

Clark’s injury absence against the Mercury makes it 14 regular-season games Clark has missed this season and 15 games overall, including the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final.
This latest injury has cost Clark five games. The 6-foot guard exited in the final minute of Indiana’s 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun on July 15 and hasn’t played since.
Clark’s latest injury absence also included missing the 3-point contest and the WNBA All-Star Game, for which she was one of the two team captains.
The season has been derailed by injury dating to the preseason. Clark missed the Fever’s opening preseason contest with a left leg injury. Then, a left quadriceps strain cost Clark five games from May 28-June 10. That was followed up by a left groin injury that sidelined Clark for four regular season games and the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final from June 26-July 5.

The Indiana Fever released an official statement on Clark’s injury status and on her recovery last Thursday, July 24.
“Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week, which confirmed that no additional injuries or damage were discovered.
“Clark will continue working with the medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being. There is no timetable available for her return,” the Fever’s statement read.
Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game on 36.7% field goal shooting and 27.9% 3-point accuracy.
