Influencer Maggie Thurmon is continuing to open up about going through a tough time amid her rumored split from pop singer Benson Boone.
In a new video shared to her book club Instagram account, Thurmon, 23, admitted that she had “kind of disappeared” after starting the page. (She uploaded her first post on Aug. 30, less than two weeks before TMZ reported that the pair had split.)
“Something happened,” she said. “And I am now touching grass at my parents’ house in Georgia.”
Continued Thurmon: “I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this: I’ve been struggling to pick up a book because I feel like now whenever I pick up a book I can’t stop thinking. Like, the things that are currently making me sad, the things I’m overthinking, the things I, like, can’t get out of my brain — I haven’t been able to push them aside long enough to get into a story.”
Last week, the content creator returned to social media for the first time since her rumored split from Boone, 23, posting a “girls night edition” get-ready-with-me video. In the clip, she tried on a new outfit, ending the post by saying, “I am going to go cook dinner with my girls now.”

The next day, Thurmon shared a conversation that she had with her dad on her Instagram Stories, where her dad told her, “I’m ready to see the phoenix rise out of the ashes,” adding that Thurmon was the “phoenix” he was referencing.
Thurmon and Boone — who were first spotted together publicly at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party in March 2024 — sparked rumors of their split earlier in September when the Grammy nominee told the audience at his concert that “sometimes people leave your life,” captured in fan-recorded footage.
Multiple outlets later reported their separation, but representatives for Boone did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
After debuting their relationship on Instagram in mid-2024, the pair attended the Twisters premiere in July of that year and walked the VMAs red carpet as a couple the following September.

Thurmon was also in attendance at the 2025 Grammys to watch Boone’s viral performance, which included a striptease assisted by Heidi Klum and Nikki Glaser, a skin-tight baby blue jumpsuit and several of his signature flips.

She further supported Boone when he was a musical guest on Saturday Night Live in May, appearing in a carousel of photos the “Beautiful Things” singer shared from Studio 8H after his performance.
In a conversation with PEOPLE in August, Thurmon teased that she would be “going on tour for a bit around the U.S.” throughout the coming fall — the same timeline as Boone’s travel around North America to promote his latest album, American Heart.
