Alexander Zverev is set to make his ninth appearance at Wimbledon and will play Arthur Rinderknech in his first-round matchup.

The German has featured at two grass-court events in preparation for his campaign at the All England Club, having made the semi-finals of the Halle Open and the final in Stuttgart, where Zverev lost to Taylor Fritz.

He has struggled on grass throughout his career, tallying a win percentage of 67% on the surface since his ATP Tour debut.

Ahead of Wimbledon, however, Zverev looks to be in promising form, and he spoke to the media about his chances at the tournament.

Alexander Zverev discusses his grass-court form ahead of Wimbledon

In his pre-championship press conference, Zverev said: “I had, you know, a pretty good preparation from I played the final, played the semifinal. You know, I worked through those tournaments as well, so.

“I mean, I think people are forgetting I’m still in number three in the world, and I’m number three in the race.

“So it kind of like, yeah, I’ve had a few, maybe losses here and there, which weren’t normal, were maybe unexpected.

“But all in all, I feel like my form has been coming back the last few weeks, a few months, and I’m looking forward to this championship, and I think I can play well here.”

Alexander Zverev’s struggles at Wimbledon throughout his career

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam that Zverev has not made the final of, with his best result in SW19 a fourth-round finish, which he has achieved three times.

His most recent appearance in round four came last year, when the world number three hadn’t dropped a set in his first three matches at the event.

Zverev’s next opponent was Fritz, however, who defeated him in a five-set marathon to begin his ongoing five-match winning streak in their rivalry.

With a favourable draw this year, he has a great chance to reach the last eight for the first time in South West London.
