Despite both being fellow Scots, it seemed Nathan Patterson could just not do anything right by manager David Moyes. Since Moyes came back to the Toffees in January 2025, Patterson only made 13 appearances for the Toffees, of which only three were starts.
However, the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back for many in the fanbase and certainly for the fullback himself came just last weekend when during a pre-match press conference, the manager referred to the player as “Craig Patterson”.
The Rangers product has done little to deserve that kind of treatment, remaining a model professional throughout his time with the Blues even when it was clear he was not going to get on the pitch.
So, to no one’s surprise, when Patterson posted on Instagram to thank the fans following his permanent transfer to Torino in Serie A, the fullback took the opportunity to aim a jab at Moyes by signing off his heartfelt message with a crossed out Craig next to his real first name, Nathan.
As always, the supporters of the club wish him well, and Everton remains with a vested interest in his future having inserted a hefty 30% sell-on clause in his transfer deal.
