A suspected military unit near Russia’s Engels-2 strategic bomber base caught fire and a drone struck a logistics warehouse deep within Russian territory in Yekaterinburg during an aerial barrage from Friday evening into Saturday morning, July 25.
In the Saratov region, local residents reported a large fire in the city of Engels following regional drone and missile threat alerts.

According to Astra Telegram channel, citing OSINT analysis, the blaze occurred at a building on Engels-1 street, which is believed to house a military unit. The burning structure is located in close proximity to the Engels-2 military airfield.
The cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed by local authorities, and some residents reported not hearing explosions prior to the blaze.
The Engels-2 airbase is a primary hub for Russia’s strategic aviation and was recently targeted by Ukrainian long-range drones on July 16, an attack that satellite imagery confirmed destroyed a Tu-95MS strategic bomber.
Further south, OSINT monitoring channels also reported a large, unexplained fire in the city of Rostov.
Yekaterinburg strike on Wildberries warehouses
Alongside the incident in Engels, the overnight barrage included a deep strike targeting logistics infrastructure.
According to the monitoring channel Exilenova+, a drone struck a Wildberries warehouse in Yekaterinburg, located approximately 1,080 miles from the Ukrainian border.
Footage from the scene showed a large column of smoke rising over the facility.

The strikes in Engels and Yekaterinburg were part of a wider aerial campaign that targeted multiple regions across Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 328 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) between 8:00 p.m. Friday and 8:00 a.m. Saturday local time.
According to the ministry, the drones were intercepted over 22 regions – including Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, and the Moscow region – as well as over the Crimean peninsula and the Sea of Azov.
Due to the aerial threat, aviation authorities temporarily closed Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport for approximately 30 minutes on Friday evening before lifting the restrictions.
The Yekaterinburg attack follows a concentrated series of recent strikes against the logistics network of Wildberries, Russia’s largest e-commerce retailer.
On Friday, drones struck civilian infrastructure in St. Petersburg, hitting a Wildberries warehouse in the village of Novosaratovka – where three people were injured – and another logistics center in Shushary, which was evacuated before a fire broke out. The company also suspended operations at a sorting center in occupied Simferopol following reported drone activity.
The campaign against Wildberries has also included recent strikes on a distribution center in the Voronezh region and an attempted strike in Kazan.
Previous strikes had already disabled approximately 8% of the company’s total warehouse capacity following damage to facilities in Elektrostal, Kotovsk, Krasnodar, and Nevinnomyssk.
